Beads of Esiteti works with a cooperative group of over 275 Maasai women living at the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Amboseli National Park. These tribal women are the embodiment of resilience and grace . Their deep devotion for creating a better future for their children and uplifting one another is what inspires our company and our lives: teaching us what it truly means to live in community. We are honored to partner and learn from the deep wisdom of these women.
Shauna Mistretta is the Founder of Beads of Esiteti and has worked, lived and volunteered intermittently throughout Africa for the past 10 years. Each day she is fueled by the women of Africa who continually teach her the power and resilience of the human spirit and the innate creativity that lies within each of us. Since 2010 Shauna has been working with the people of Esiteti helping to create an international market for the women’s traditional beadwork in hopes of helping to preserve their culture while creating a sustainable income stream for this tribal community. To her the Maasai are the embodiment of deep wisdom, dignity and unbelievable bravery and she is honored each day to be working in partnership with them.
